Headed Your Way

A mobile app for telling your friend circle you're headed their way, so a trip turns into a meetup, a list of local picks, or a shared hotel room.

The idea

Travelers often have friends in the city they're visiting and only find out afterwards. Headed Your Way lets a traveler post a trip to their own friends and ask for one of three things: to meet up, to get local recommendations, or to share a spare bed.

What I built

  • Three trip modes, Join me, See me and Show me, each with its own color and flow.
  • A private friend system with invites by email, text or word of mouth. Sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, with no passwords.
  • Friends and friends of friends only. Where the traveler is staying stays hidden until they accept someone.
  • Friends who don't have the app can reply through a simple web form.
  • A beta feedback tab on every screen that attaches screen and device context, never message contents or exact location.

Where it stands

The iOS beta screens and desktop screens are designed, and the app is heading into a private beta with friend groups.
